In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, bike riding and exercising in nature, playing and watching sports, eating and cooking all kinds of delicious foods, expressing myself through art and creativity, practicing yoga and meditation, and continuing to learn more about people and the world through new experiences, books, and podcasts. Whew, that’s a lot! But the truth is, I feel privileged to say that I enjoy many aspects of my life. I care about people, animals, and the world deeply, and I try to balance my passionate heart with having fun, laughing, and not taking myself and my personal opinions too seriously. I carry my joys into my sessions with clients and encourage them to share their interests, personal strengths and what they value most with me, as well as their questions, challenges, and insecurities.
Education
I hold a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Sustainability Studies from the University of Florida, and began my first career as a high school English teacher. After graduating with a Master of Social Work from the University of North Florida I began my clinical experience in a residential treatment center, providing therapy and psychoeducation to individuals and families impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. I also have experience working with adolescents in a high school counseling setting and with adults in an intensive outpatient program targeting substance use.
Advanced Training
I am an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Therapist and often incorporate EMDR into sessions with clients to address trauma and attachment-issues. I have also completed 160 of the required 200 hours to become a Certified Trauma Therapist (CTT), which I will conclude in the Summer of 2022.
